My Happy Hands: End-of-Term Nursery Session at Masha Junior School

As we concluded the school term, our nursery children participated in a short and joyful session entitled “My Happy Hands.”

The aim of the session was to help the children understand that their hands can be used for good and loving actions, both at school and at home.

What We Learned

During the session, the children enthusiastically shared many examples of how they had used their hands positively during the term.

They mentioned writing, sharing with friends, colouring, cleaning, eating, clapping, drawing, and helping mummy. We were delighted to see how much they remembered and how proud they felt about these good actions.

The children learned that:

• Happy hands help.
• Happy hands share.
• Happy hands greet politely.
• Happy hands clean up.
• Happy hands do not hurt others.

Our special phrase for the day was:

Happy hands, happy hearts!

The children repeated this phrase with great excitement, and we hope it will continue to be a familiar and joyful reminder throughout the holiday.

For Continuity at Home

The holiday provides a wonderful opportunity for parents and guardians to continue using the same language with their children.

For example:

• “Let us use our happy hands to help.”
• “We use our happy hands to share.”
• “We use our happy hands to greet kindly.”
• “We use our happy hands to keep our toys tidy.”
• “We use our happy hands to be gentle.”

When a child does something unkind, parents and caregivers may gently remind them, “We use our happy hands,” rather than focusing only on punishment.

This helps the child remember the positive behaviour we are encouraging and gives them a simple way to make a better choice.

Continuing the Message During the Holiday

A “My Happy Hands” poster has been shared for families to print and place where the child can see it regularly.

Parents can refer to the poster during everyday activities and encourage their children to think about how they are using their hands.

Whether helping with a simple task, sharing with a sibling, putting toys away, greeting someone politely, or being gentle with others, these everyday moments provide opportunities for children to practise what they have learned.

Our hope is that this simple message becomes a joyful reminder for the children throughout the holiday and continues to support the positive behaviour we encourage at school.
